Polytec GmbH (Waldbronn, Germany) takes over the distribution of the US company Micron Optics for Germany. Micron Optics is a leading manufacturer of optical sensors based on Fibre Bragg technology. The company was recently acquired by the US company Luna with the aim of bundling and expanding competences and potential in fibre optic measurement technology.

As Polytec has been successfully representing Luna in Germany since 2006 and is also an expert in fibre optic sensor technology, this was an obvious step in the cooperation between the two companies.  Dr Dirk Samiec, head of the Photonics Business Unit at Polytec, explains: "Our customers benefit from this combined portfolio as it significantly expands the application possibilities. Micron Optics products are characterised by higher measurement speeds and turnkey solutions for infrastructure, energy, transportation, medicine and industry. Even more than before, we are now in a position to exploit the potential of fibre optic sensors with all available technologies. If there is a solution with this technology, then we can also serve it."

Polytec offers application consulting, feasibility studies, sales and service for Luna and Micron Optics products in Germany.
